Since our last successful Lesser Noddy trip many wanted to visit the location again. So we decided to visit Sonadia Island once more. This time Guest from the US, Mr. Sam Kabir tagged along. The date of the Trip was within a Long Holiday and there was huge rush on the Road from Dhaka to Cox’s which became more unbearable after an Accident on the Highway added more long hours to the already long journey by Bus. We got off the Bus at 1:15 PM, Low Tide was already wearing out at Sonadia Island which was very unfortunate. We promptly went to our Speed Boat and started our Journey.

When we arrived at Kaladia at about 3PM, High Tide was already coming and started submerging the Whole area. We decided to still check it out for a bit. We found several distant flocks of small waders but they were leaving the area already, we didnt get much photo opportunities. There were mostly Sand Plovers, Sand Pipers and Curlews. Several Terns were chasing after an Osprey in the Sky and a Peregrine Falcon swooped in for a quick snack but missed.
We then started again for the Noddy spot in the middle of sea, there were a small gathering of Terns there too but after checking carefully we couldn’t find any roosting Noddy. a team earlier in the morning couldn’t find it either. There were new flocks of terns coming to the roost regularly but not the Noddy. Instead we saw a pair of Gull-billed Terns which was Lifer for few of the Guests. and we found one Indian Skimmer, a globally endangered bird that comes to Bangladesh during winter but generally found in the mudflats of Meghna Estuary near Noakhali and Bhola. Then came another Skimmer, both gave great Photo Opportunities for some Fantastic photos.
There were scattered Clouds in the sky which made the Sunset Sky simply Epic. Few of those clouds were Raining over the Sea also. This was easily one of the prettiest Sunsets of my Life. We then headed back to Cox’s bazar, arrived in dark, got Dinner and that was the End of that Day.
