We arrived at Hazarikhil Wildlife Sanctuary at Dawn, just after sunrise. We already had breakfast and refreshments on the way so we went right in. Explored Tea Gardens, found Red Junglefowl, Oriental Turtle Doves, Loads of Red-whiskered Bulbuls and heard few Necklaced Laughingthrushes. Then we headed into a trail inside forest. Found Kalij Pheasants, Cachar Bulbul, Common Green Magpie, Crimson Sunbird, Little Spiderhunter, Greater Racket-tailed Drongo, Greater Necklaced laughingthrush, Pale-chinned Flycatcher etc.

Then we headed for a hill hiking, this trail goes up about 300 meters at highest. Birding was nice here, we found Nepal Fulvetta, Yellow-vented Warbler, White-throated Bulbul, Ruby-cheeked Sunbird, Lesser Racket-tailed Drongo, Bar-winged Flycatcher Shrikes, Scarlet Minivets etc. We had our snacks here and rested a bit. Then started our descent. at the start point we met some other known birders and they told us that they briefly seen a Red-headed Trogon which was great news.
Then we headed into a stream and walked for quite some time. Saw more Kalij Pheasants, more of the same birds from earlier etc. Tour Leader Zaber and a member Syed Abbas stumbled upon a Grey Peacock Pheasant which disappeared in thicket very fast leaving no opportunity to take photo or others who were little behind to come join. We waited a bit but no activity.
In the afternoon we had fun shooting several Red-breasted Parakeets and checked that Trogon Place but no luck.
We headed back to the Stream Trail start point before sunset and waited a bit for darkness. Then had set up our Flashlights and Headlamps. We heard a flock of White-cheeked Partridges, Brown Boobooks, Collared Scops Owl and Few Oriental Scops Owls. But all were from quite a distance. We saw few Large-tailed Nightjars flying over tea plantation foraging.

This summed our Birding for the Day at Hazarikhil Wildlife Sanctuary. We recorded a total of 82 Species of birds there including heard only ones also. Guests got 3-20 Lifers each. We had a very good dinner afterwards and headed back to town.
