Bangladesh gets a few Black-backed Dwarf Kingfishers every year as Summer Migrants but they come to remote rainforests of north-eastern hills. Monsoon rain generally makes it harder to go photograph them. This year there were two locations reported that was easily accessible and the bird was being sighted regularly so we decided to visit one in june. Weather Forecast was showing Heavy Thunderstorm with a chance of few hours without rain in the morning so we went hoping for that. We arrived at the Forest at 8AM and started trekking. Which became rather hard with very slippery mud and soft sand under streams which made walking very slow.
First we spotted an Adult Black-backed Dwarf Kingfisher but it did not give photo opportunity to everyone and flew off fast. After looking around a bit, we managed to find a juvenile bird which allowed to go pretty close and gave nice photos and videos to everyone. We saw a glimpse of 03 birds flying together at one point aswell so possibly a family of 03 birds there.
We also saw Cachar Bulbul, White-browed Piculet, Blue-eared Kingfisher, Abbott’s Babbler, Cinnamon Bittern, Pallas’s Squirrel etc. See the Checklist here https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S359550496
